DANCE ARTIST OPEN DAY WITH DOODLE DANCE AND COMMOTION DANCE

Are you a dance artist based in the South? Are you interested in learning more about dance for and with children, schools, and families? Then we want to meet you!

Doodle Dance and Commotion Dance have joined forces for the day and we are keen to meet like minded dance artists in the area who want to grow their skills, knowledge and networks in making and delivering dance to and for children.

With a combined professional portfolio of over 33 years both Artistic Directors, Jo Cone and Vicki Hargreaves are seeking new collaborations to continue to deepen and enhance the dance workforce with a specialist knowledge of creating dance experiences with and for babies, toddlers, and children.

If you are professionally trained dancer, at any stage of your career with an interest in working in nurseries and primary schools we would love to meet you. This Playtime is a chance for you to dance with others, hear from both directors about their work and future plans, and to ask questions with the opportunity for potential paid work with both companies at a later date. We are particularly interested in hearing from dance artists based in West Sussex and Hampshire.

We would love to meet people who are interested in both performance work and teaching work, but please note if you are interested in only one of these elements then please do still apply. If you have worked with us before and want to reconnect please do, and if you have never heard of us then we’d love to meet you!

How to apply: APPLICATIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED

We have a limited number of spaces available for the day. To express your interest please send a CV and one page letter detailing why you would like to join us on the day. If you prefer to send an application in video format please send a short 3minute video via wetransfer. All applications to be sent to info@commotiondance.co.uk

The day will be practical with some theory, please bring a notebook, water and clothes you are happy to dance in.  Please inform us ahead of time of any access requirements.

Through Doodle Dance’s Art Council England Funding we are able to provide 10 x £10 travel bursaries to support people with travel. When applying artists can ask for this in their application and this will be given on a first come first served.

Please note if you cannot attend the date but are still interested in getting to know us please make contact as we will be sharing up coming dates for a catch up coffee morning in November too.
